Hi there, today I'd like to discuss a subject that is very heavy in my heart. In our society we are very blessed with abundance of everything our hearts desire, we have the freedom to come and go as we please, to obtain an education in whatever field we wish. To voice our opinions and make our own choices - the United States of America is a blessed nation that was founded on the solid rock, Jesus Christ. Even so, whether you are Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Satanist or a sunflower-seed worshiper you still have the freedom to choose.....
.....And then there is Cuba. Sad, despondent, impoverished, abused. The "Pearl of the Caribbean" of the '50s is no longer. It's funny how easily it has been forgotten, the shining tropical island that is only 90 miles from the Keys. The people have been swept under the proverbial rug, brainwashed and made to feel complacent in the mire. Even those that have been chosen by the Cuban Government lottery to be able to come to the United States defend Cuba and speak of the abundance they live in. My question to them is - abundance of WHAT????? I truly believe it's a defense mechanism. To come and see a regular American Supermarket to them is like Disneyland to American children. Once exposed to the way life "ought" to be with all the choices and basic freedoms - they go into denial because of where they have to go back to. Psychologically they convince themselves the way of life they're used to is the best way. They have no choice. I'll say it again while my heart pangs, they have no choice.
While we live our daily lives in all our busyness, it's very easy to forget that there are people trying to simply survive having to endure every human rights violations. How can we forget that? How can one person make a difference? Our prayers and petitions make a big difference, talking to other people about the conditions in Cuba is another way. Unless you are a Cuban immigrant from the 60s, you are not aware of the mental and physical tortures that began in the Castro regime. 99% of the American public still has no clue to this day about how it all happened that Castro fooled the people and only after he was voted into power did he then tell the Cuban population about his political intent. Since then there have been countless political prisoners ripped away from their families with many never to be seen again.
I can go on forever about Cuba and the tyranny it's shackled down with, but more effectively I'd like to share a site I happened upon that will show actual pictures from the present (click on the link below). The Cuba that tourists see and the one the natives live in are two different worlds. It's time we exposed the truth.
The fiction novel I'm currently writing is of course a fiction, with the setting in Cuba. Even though the story line is not true I do bring in elements about the real Cuba and describe the dilapidated condition it's in and hopefully this will create a curiosity in the American public about Cuba and it's current state. (or lack thereof) If you have any current stories or even past stories about Cuba, please feel free to contact me, any information will be appreciated.
Part of the mission statement for "Free Cuba Foundation" states the following,"
- That over three decades of athiest and materialist ideology have devastated the ethical and material life in Cuba.
- That the revitilization of the moral and spiritual life of Cuba is necessary for the survival of the Cuban nation.
The Bible says, "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." Socialism in Cuba has imposed aetheism for long enough. There are things stirring in the spiritual realm and the blood shed on the Cuban soil has cried out for justice. Our God is a just God and has told us that vengeance is His. For we war not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities of the air. We must join together in prayer - in God's perfect timing justice will be served.
I leave you with this : "It is terrible to speak of you, Liberty, for one who lives without you. A wild beast does not bend its knee before its tamer with greater fury. One discovers the depths of hell, and from there looks up at free men with their sun-like arrogance. One bites the air, like a hyena biting the bars of its cage. One's spirit writhes inside the body, like a man who has been poisoned. The wretch who lives without freedom feels like dressing in the mud from the streets. Those who have you, o Liberty, do not know you. Those who do not have you should not speak of you, but win you. "

Selah. (pause and consider/meditate on)
How very sad. I honestly had no idea that things were so desperate in Cuba. I've talked to friends who have vacationed there. They all talk about the beauty never the poverty and the horrible living conditions of residents. I'll be praying.

Thanks for shedding light into this situation. We need people to expose the truth, keep it up. We've been in the dark for too long about Cuba, looking foward to hearing more.
